Resumen
This research is about a wastewater treatment plant design for Cheese Industry “EL PAJONAL” in Quimiag rural parish, Riobamba canton, Chimborazo province.
Facilities and production process of cheese industry were inspected. Then, water levels were determined by streamflow method for a week from 7 am. To 5 pm. Temperature was recorded in each measurement. Over the course of two day, two wastewater samples by compound sampling were gathered in plastic containers to be preserved in a cooler and taken to the lab for the physicochemical characterization. Evaluation and better-treatment selection to flow the water were carried out not only with the lab works but also with the field trip ones.
The wastewater treatment plant was measured with a maximum water level of 8,59*10-4 m3/s. Average temperature of 23,97 C. BOD of 7800 mg/l, COD of 14075 mg/l which has a grid system cleaned manually, an automatic flocculation reservoir of 2.06 m3 of volumen, rounded primary-sedimentation tank with pallet system, active-mud system with airing. The muds generated during the treatment will be ready in the drying stage. This system will reduce the concentration of the following parameters: BOD 97, 3%, COD 97, 2%, oils and fats 90%, suspended solids 98, 5%.
It is concluded that wastewater can be flowed because it meets with the regulation norm TULAS.
It is recommended that cheese industry “EL PAJONAL” to implement a wastewater treatment plant to help to preserve the water resources and meet with the exigencies existing today.
